SHORT BIO
Originally from Brazil and now based in Los Angeles, Pops began playing bass at age 9 and started working professionally by 12. She grew up immersed in funk, Brazilian music, and grunge, later expanding her voice through collaborations across genres. Her career took her from Brazil to Europe, touring and recording with a range of artists, before relocating to Los Angeles, where she quickly became one of the city’s most in-demand bass players. Over the years, she has performed and recorded with artists including Willow, Adam Lambert, Avril Lavigne, Travis Barker, Anitta, Larry Braggs (Tower of Power), and Cimafunk, served as musical director for Artur Menezes, and held the role of resident bassist at TV Globo, one of the world’s largest television networks.
Along the years, Pops developed a strong creative identity, writing and producing her own material while overseeing musical direction, visual design, and strategy. In 2024, she began releasing music from her debut EP, DAMAGE, including singles like “Misunderstood”, “Deep Thoughts”, “Funk Karma”, and “Drive Complaining”, ahead of the full EP release in September 2025. The project features a standout cast of top tier musicians such as grammy winner Taylor Graves (Mac Miller, Thundercat), Stanley Randolph (Stevie Wonder), Justin Brown (Thundercat), Swatkins (Allen Stone, Scary Pockets), Astyn Turr, and Artur Menezes. The EP reflects Pops' entry as a producer and composer with a clear sonic vision and It introduces her not just as a bassist, but as a creative force shaping her sound with intention and high musical standards. The full EP Damage will include three additional tracks: “Africa Dust,” “Damage,” and “Misunderstood (Instrumental)”.
Her solo project debuted with a sold-out show at The Baked Potato (Los Angeles), followed by performances at Blue Note São Paulo and Blue Note Rio — a deliberate choice to launch in artist-focused, high-impact venues. Her live set merges tightly arranged compositions with space for improvisation, groove, and visual direction, positioning the bass as the driving voice alongside a band of highly individual, expressive musicians.
In July 2025, she will release a live session recorded at EastWest Studios, featuring Taylor Graves, Sput (Ghost-Note, Snarky Puppy), Noa Kahn, and Artur Menezes — a performance that reflects Pops’ commitment to craft, collaboration, and creating work that honors the past while pushing forward with clarity and intent.
